Soccer is more than just a game; it’s a culture, a philosophy for life, and a uniting force for people around the world. It transcends all borders, boundaries, and barriers. No team embodies this sentiment more than the US Women’s National Team.
When the USWNT asked Snapchat to launch an experience that augments fandom for the 2023 World Cup, we were excited to bring Snap’s world-class AR technology to this momentous occasion, to showcase one of the most iconic teams of all time.

Home Base Mode: During match breaks, fans can stay updated on the team's current status and upcoming events.
Live Mode: A dynamic second-screen experience that elevates your broadcast and ignites conversations among fans.
Post-Match Mode: The fandom thrill lasts beyond the final whistle. Relive unforgettable moments that leave lasting memories.
Selfie Mode: Capture your fandom with animated Bitmojis of USWNT's star players.

Design Direction
We created a custom-designed UI that tied into the USWNT’s visual center so that our experience felt cohesive with the content the team promoted throughout the tournament.
Custom Bitmojis
We showcased the players' diversity and personalities by creating custom Bitmojis, unique to each player. We highlighted their style by matching their hairstyles and apparel with what they were going to be wearing on the field on game day.
